About the Artist
Ibim Cookey is a Nigerian artist trained as an architect at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. His work is centered on the history, culture, environment, and people of the Niger Delta.
Through portraiture, drawing, and mixed media, he explores themes of memory, identity, displacement, and resilience. His coffee-stained backgrounds serve as visual and symbolic reflections of land, labour, trade, and extraction.
